Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - In the spirit of friendly competition, Buffalo Mayor Chris Scanlon and Saskatoon Mayor Cynthia Block have agreed to a charitable wager ahead of Game 3 of the NLL Finals, taking place this Saturday afternoon at KeyBank Center.

Rather than betting on local delicacies, like in years past, both Mayors have pledged to make donations to food banks in the winning team's city.

If the Buffalo Bandits win on Saturday, Mayor Block will make a donation to FeedMore WNY, the local food bank selected by Mayor Scanlon. If the Saskatchewan Rush come out on top, Mayor Scanlon will make a donation to the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.

"This wager is about more than team pride. It’s about using the excitement of the Finals to give back to our communities," said Buffalo Mayor Scanlon. "I’m proud to support FeedMore WNY, which works tirelessly to ensure families across Western New York have access to nutritious food. Let’s Go Bandits!"

"While I’ll be cheering for the Rush to bring home the championship, this friendly wager is a win no matter the outcome. It’s a great way to channel the spirit of competition into something meaningful for our communities," said Saskatoon Mayor Block. I’m proud to stand behind this effort to support those facing food insecurity in both Saskatoon and Buffalo."

The winner-take-all Game 3 of the NLL Finals is set for Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
