Pembroke, N.Y. (WBEN) - New York State Police has responded to a crash involving 25-to-30 vehicles on the New York State Thruway in the Westbound lanes between the Pembroke and Batavia exits.

The I-90 West remains closed as of Thursday afternoon, while the I-90 East has re-opened after a brief closure at the Pembroke exit.

State Trooper James O'Callaghan said tractor trailers and buses are among the vehicles involved in the accident.

"We have no significant injuries, a lot of minor injuries, which is a very good thing, considering the amount of cars involved in this collision," said O'Callaghan with WBEN.

O'Callaghan said all lanes on the I-90 were blocked in both directions for a while.

"We have median exposures with vehicles. We have a lot of tractor trailers, which is obviously a little bit tougher to move or to get vehicles out of there. There's gonna be a lot of tow services," explained O'Callaghan.

O'Callaghan anticipates the closure of the I-90 Westbound to be in place for hours.

"If you are planning on traveling or using that part of the 90, try to come up with another solution," O'Callaghan suggested. "Route 5, get off either before or after, obviously, and just adjust your travel accordingly."

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
