East Aurora, N.Y. (WBEN) - Message received loud and clear.

East Aurora residents were quick to express their opinions
about a new paint color for the landmark Roycroft Inn in the village.

They didn't like it one bit.

For as long as most people remember, the Inn has had a green exterior.

But painters this week started giving the 119 year old structure a color change to black and white.

It drew quick, negative reaction in a matter of hours.

"The color of the building will remain the same," said Jemal in an email to WBEN following the backlash.

The Roycroft Inn was purchased in 2023 by Developer Doug Jemal.

It's history dates back to 1905.

Elbert Hubbard founded an Arts and Crafts movement known as Roycroft. He opened the Inn to accommodate the hundreds of working artisans and visitors that were drawn to East Aurora.

In 1986, the Roycroft Inn received National Historic Landmark status. Shortly after that, it underwent an $8 million restoration.
