Slick start as freezing drizzle lingers across region

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A slick start to the Wednesday as lingering freezing drizzle continues to accumulate across the Buffalo metro area and Niagara region.

Roads, sidewalks and parking lots are extremely slippery in spots as the mixed precipitation has been ongoing since Tuesday afternoon.


"It's more freezing drizzle than snow," says National Weather Service meteorologist Jason Alumbaugh who tells WBEN any untreated roads and surfaces will be dangerous.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 10am.

* WHAT...Freezing drizzle. Additional ice accumulations of a few hundredths of an inch.
* WHERE...Niagara, Orleans, Northern Erie, and Genesee counties.
* WHEN...Until 10 AM EST this morning.
* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions and walkways, especially in the Buffalo metro area.

Periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will result in slippery roads and limited visibilities. Slow down and use caution while driving.
