Lockport, N.Y. (WBEN) - The opening of West Herr Auto Group's third Subaru dealership, and 40th overall dealership, drew attention from Subaru officials in the U.S. and as far away as Subaru global headquarters in Japan.

Top executives were on hand Thursday for the grand opening of West Herr Subaru Lockport at 6856 South Transit Road, including Tady Yoshida, Chairman and CEO Subaru Corporation, and Jeff Walters, President and COO, Subaru of America.

"We're grateful," West Herr President and CEO Scott Bieler said several times as he addressed a large gathering inside the 28,000 square-foot, state of the art dealership.

Bieler thanked loyal customers and 31 hundred employees during the celebration. West Herr is the largest automotive group in New York State.

"This is a very special day for us. I'm honored that they would take the time to come here in person and spend time with us," Bieler told WBEN.

Ribbon cutting honors were given to West Herr Chairman Brad Hafner, who has been with the company since 1959.

During the event, West Herr donated a new 2025 Subaru Forester to People, Inc. to help transport individuals in their YALT program, or Young Adult Life Transitions support program.
