DETROIT (WWJ) -- President Joe Biden walked into the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Wednesday, hand-in-hand with Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

A photo tweeted by CBS News White House reporter Bo Erickson was getting more attention than the cars ahead of planned remarks by the president at the big event in the Motor City.

In the picture, Biden is seen holding hands with Whitmer, a fellow Democrat, with a masked Michigan Congresswoman Debbie Dingell off to his left, and Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow to Whitmer's right. In some social media comments, Dingell has been incorrectly identified as First Lady Jill Biden.

In another photo, Biden fires up a Chevrolet Corvette Z06, as he's shown around the show floor by General Motors CEO Mary Barra.

In the Ford section, Biden walks with a hand on Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford's shoulder.

WWJ Auto Beat reporter Jeff Gilbert said the president was expected to check out each of the displays from the Detroit carmakers at Huntington Place, with a special interest in electric vehicles, before making a brief speech.

This is not Biden's first time in Detroit for NAIAS. During past visits, Biden took both a Ford F-150 Lightning and a Hummer EV for a spin.
