Gio hated 'wuss answer' from Robert Saleh in regards to Jets expectations

Woody Johnson told reporters on Monday that a successful season is in “the eye of the beholder,” while Robert Saleh said “I’ll never say that” the upcoming season is a failure if the Jets don’t make the playoffs.

Gio wasn’t a fan of that sentiment, nor does he think Jets fans will love to hear that from the organization’s leadership.

“Rob Saleh gave a wuss answer on that too,” Gio said. “No Jet fan wants to hear that. This is the way he talks to the fans, and the actions they’ve made tell you they are all in and can’t miss the playoffs, especially after last year.”

Gio then gave his version of what Saleh should have said.

“‘After everything we went through last year…you’re gonna tell me we’re gonna miss the playoffs again? after all these signings and everything we’ve done, yeah, that would be terrible.’”

Boomer was much more understanding of Saleh’s sentiment.

“None of us that have ever played or coach are ever gonna use the word ‘failure’ before the season starts,” Boomer said. “That’s a loaded question. He has to answer it that way.”
