Congratulations, Mets fans: the Uncle Stevie era is official!

Take it from the new owner himself: the Mets’ sale to Steve Cohen is closed!

Okay, so if you need an actual official word, here is the statement from the Mets and Cohen:

“This is a significant milestone in the history of this storied franchise. I want to thank everybody who helped make this happen. The 2021 season is right around the corner and we’ve got a lot of work to do, so I’m excited to get started.  Let’s go Mets!”

Cohen was approved by 25 of the 29 other MLB owners over the last two weeks, and had Tweeted on Nov. 1 that he expected to close the deal within 10 days.

According to RADIO.COM and WFAN MLB insider Jon Heyman, the final price of the sale was a record $2.475 billion.
