In a surprise move, the Astros and general manager James Click have parted ways just weeks after Houston won the World Series.
Click was offered a one-year deal by Astros owner Jim Crane and turned it down, meaning a coveted front office mind is suddenly on the open market.
The stunning news immediately led to Yankee fans dreaming of a new face as their GM, as many have grown tired of Brian Cashman, the longest-tenured GM in the sport despite a title drought that stretches back to 2009.
Some fans recognize that Cashman, respected by owner Hal Steinbrenner, likely isn’t going anywhere (despite currently working as GM without a new contract), and that corner of the fanbase wants to see Cashman take on a president of baseball operations role to make room for Click, whose team throttled Cashman’s Yankees in a four-game ALCS sweep.
James Click is more prepared than Brian Cashman to tackle the challenges of building a dominant roster in the year 2023, I’m just sayin’
