Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have signed defensive lineman Austin Johnson to a one-year contract on Thursday. Johnson has played the last two seasons with the Los Angles Chargers.

The news was first posted on social media via Bills defensive tackle DaQuan Jones, who played with Johnson at both Penn State University and with the Tennessee Titans.

The report was later confirmed by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, who says it's a one-year deal worth up to $4 million.

Johnson was recently in Buffalo last week on a free agent visit before making another trip to Arizona on a visit with the Cardinals.

The 6-foot-4, 314-pound Johnson originally entered the NFL as a second-round pick of the Titans in the 2016 NFL Draft, where he spent the first four years of his career.

The 29-year-old then moved on to the New York Giants for two years before joining the Chargers.

Johnson is very versatile along the defensive line. He translates to a defensive tackle in the Bills' 4-3 scheme, but can also play nose tackle or on the end in a 3-4 alignment.
