Major League Baseball and the Player’s Association announced the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles will face off Aug. 23, 2020 for the fourth iteration of the MLB Little League Classic.
Played on Historic Bowman Field, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the Little League Classic launched in 2017 showcasing the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals. The following year the event hosted the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies. This year, the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates have the honor of playing in Williamsport on Aug. 18.
“It’s a good experience, actually my brother was a part of it with the Pirates,” said Red Sox Manager Alex Cora. “In the beginning it looks hectic with the travelling but when you get there and show up early you get to spend time with the kids.”
“It was something that the Pirates and Cardinals loved so I’m looking forward to it and it’s something different," said Cora.
The annual event is a great way for the Little League Players to interact with their favorite big leaguers. The Red Sox and Orioles will attend Little League Games earlier in the day before facing off at 7 p.m. on ESPN and ESPN Radio.
