On Thursday, the Patriots (11-2) announced running back TreVeyon Henderson had been named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for November.
According to the team, Henderson is the sixth Patriots player to win a rookie of the month honor and the third offensive player to earn the award, joining cornerback Christian Gonzalez (September 2023), quarterback Mac Jones (November 2021), defensive end Chandler Jones (September 2012), linebacker Jerod Mayo (October 2008) and wide receiver Deion Branch (September 2002).
Here’s what the team said in a statement on Thursday afternoon about the Ohio State-product’s win:
“Henderson helped the Patriots to a 4-0 November record with 65 rushing attempts for 330 yards, a 5.1-yard rushing average and 5 total touchdowns. In the 28-23 victory at Tampa Bay on Nov. 9, Henderson scored on a 55-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and a 69-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to become the first Patriots player to have two 50-yard touchdown runs in a game. He also finished the game with his first 100-yard game with 147 yards on 14 carries for a 10.5-yard rushing average.
“Henderson followed that performance by accounting for three touchdowns in the win vs. the New York Jets on Nov. 13 when he rushed for 2 touchdowns and had 1 receiving touchdown. He joined TE Rob Gronkowski as the only other rookie to account for three touchdowns in a regular season game.”
After a glacial start to his rookie season after being drafted 38th overall in this spring’s draft, Henderson has found his place within the Josh McDaniels offense. When fellow running back Rhamondre Stevenson was out for three weeks with a toe injury, he stepped up big as someone who showed home run potential, both in the outside run game as well as the passing game. Being thrust into extra reps on gameday unlocked the 23-year-old, making him one of Drake Maye’s most dangerous weapons moving forward.
This honor for Henderson gives the 2025 Patriots seven in-season awards on the year:
- Week 2: Antonio Gibson wins AFC Special Teams Player of the Week
- Week 4: Marcus Jones wins Special Teams Player of the Week
- Week 7: K'Lavon Chaisson wins AFC Defensive Player of the Week
- October: Jones wins AFC Defensive Player of the Month
- Week 12: Andy Borregales wins AFC Special Teams Player of the Week
- Week 13: Drake Maye wins AFC Offensive Player of the Week
- November: TreVeyon Henderson wins NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month
Henderson will have the weekend to celebrate, as the Patriots are on a much-needed bye in Week 14.
