The Patriots further expanded their offensive coaching staff on Tuesday afternoon.

According to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, New England is hiring Taylor Embree as their next running backs coach.

Embree played wide receiver at UCLA and spent the 2012 offseason with the Chargers. He embarked on his coaching journey that same year as a graduate assistant at UNLV, before heading back to his alma mater in Los Angeles from 2013-2014.

The 35-year-old's first NFL job was with the Chiefs in 2016 as a defensive assistant before he was poached by Kyle Shanahan and his father, Jon, to join the 49ers staff as an offensive quality control coach. He then coached tight ends at the University of Colorado in 2020, and has been the Jets' running backs coach for the past three seasons. It was reported by SNY's Connor Hughes in late January that Embree would not return to New York's staff in 2024.

Embree replaces Vinnie Sunseri, who took a job with the Washington Huskies as a defensive assistant under coordinator Steve Belichick. Here's an updated look at the Patriots new-look offensive coaching staff:

-- Alex Van Pelt, offensive coordinator
-- Ben McAdoo, senior offensive assistant
-- T.C. McCartney, quarterbacks
-- Scott Peters, offensive line
-- Robert Kugler, offensive line
-- Tiquan Underwood, assistant wide receivers
-- Taylor Embree, running backs

New England still has two spots to fill: Wide receivers coach and tight ends coach.

It's been reported by ESPN's Mike Reiss that former WRs coach Troy Brown's contract is up with the team, and he added on Tuesday that Brown "has an opportunity to stay" on the Patriots staff, but isn't aware of the job or role.

Last year's tight ends coach, Will Lawing, has reportedly taken the offensive coordinator job at Boston College under new head coach Bill O'Brien.
