It is just a reminder of how far Mookie Betts has come.
In 2020 we saw Betts sign one of a the richest contracts in Major League Baseball history, inking a 12-year, $365 million extension with the Dodgers. He also just purchased a $7.6 million mansion.
And now Betts might be putting "professional sports team owner" on his business card, as well.
The gestures by James and Betts comes after pushback from the Atlanta Dream toward their current co-owner Kelly Loeffler, a Republican who lost her United States Senate seat in Georgia Tuesday night.
Loeffler has feuded with her players over social activism issues.
If Loeffler was open to a sale, some reports estimate the value of the franchise would be around $13.7 million. James will make just about $40 million for the 2020-21 NBA season.
Betts is an avid basketball fan, with teammates and coaches often noticing how the outfielder looks to talk hoops at every turn.
