(WWJ) A disaster declaration has been announced in the city of Roseville in the wake of pop-up weekend storms and left flash floods in their wake.

Heavy rains on Saturday night flooded portions of I-94 in both directions near I-696 and caused the temporary closure of the freeway.

Roseville City Manager Scott Adkins says some areas have been more affected than others, adding that the worst flooding happened south of 12 Mile Road.

"We have certain areas that received an inch-and-a-half and we have certain areas that received four inches," Adkins told WWJ. "There were neighborhoods that had maybe just a small amount and others that were a complete deluge."

City officials plan to go door-to-door through city neighborhoods today to assess the level of flood damage. They're also working with GFL Environmental on to arrange pickup days for flood damaged items.

Carpet, drywall and paneling may have to be removed in some houses to avoid mold contamination.
