ELLSWORTH TWP. (WWJ/AP) - Michigan State Police hope a bigger reward could bring in a tip to help them solve a mysterious two-year-old murder case.
Officials said $15,000 is now being offered for information leading to an arrest in the death of Evelyn Louise Ware in Michigan's northwestern Lower Peninsula.
Ware's remains were found Jan. 10, 2018, in the rubble of her burned home at 1487 Lakola Road in Ellsworth Township, southwest of Cadillac.
The reward stood at $5,000 since shortly after the fire, with the additional funding coming from an anonymous donor and the Detroit Crimes Commission.
Police stress that any tip, no matter how tiny, could help.
“The public is reminded that what may seem to be a minor or insignificant piece of information can lead to a significant breakthrough in an investigation," police said, in a media release.
Ware was a retired bus driver and Director of Transportation in the Pine River School district for 30 years.
