Parents Arrested After Infant Dies At Starlite Motel In Fraser

FRASER (WWJ) - A couple has been arrested after a 2-month-old infant died at a Fraser motel.

While neither Fraser Police nor the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office are discussing the case at this time, WWJ Newsradio 950 has learned that the child was brought to the Macomb County Medical Examiner's Office earlier this week.

A manager at the Starlite Motel confirmed the incident Tuesday night, at the business on Groesbeck Hwy., north of 13 Mile Road.

The manager told WWJ's Michael Cohen that, at around 11:30 p.m., the baby's father came running to motel office asking that someone call 911. The mother was in the room giving the baby CPR, the manager said, when EMS arrived to rush the baby to a hospital. Police also responded, he added, and both parents were taken into custody.

The motel manager, who asked not to be named, said the couple first moved into the motel in November of last year when the mother was around six months pregnant.

It's unclear at this time how the baby died, or what, if any charges the parents may face.
