The search for Brian Herrman, the 38-year-old who went missing after he and his family got swept out into Lake Michigan in the Ludington area, has been called off for the day.

Mason County Sheriff Office, Oceana County Sheriff and Department of Natural Resources Conservation Offices are docking their boats due to inclement weather. Shoreline searches have also been suspended until tomorrow.

This is the third incident to happen where the Sable River meets Lake Michigan in eight days. The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazard statement and the public is urged to proceed with extreme caution when they are near Lake Michigan.

Herrman, his wife and two children were swimming in the Sable River at Ludington State Park before the tide took them out into Lake Michigan.

Herrman's wife and children were rescued, but he's been missing since 3 p.m. on Thursday.
