Super Speeder Nabbed By Police Going 118 MPH On I-94

(WWJ) With freeways free and clear due to coronavirus outbreak closures of bars, resraurants, and offices, some are taking advantage with high -- and dangerous -- speeds, police say.

A second so-called super-speeder was caught by Michigan State Police going 118 miles per hour on I-94 near 23 Mile around 7 p.m. Wednesday. This one fled, pretended to be a cop and had a pistol in his vehicle, police say.

Initially when he was spotted. the driver didn't stop for the flashing lights of the State Police, and managed to speed away.

But troopers spotted the car in New Baltimore a short time later.

When troopers tried to make a traffic stop at that point, the suspect put his car in reverse and starting driving backwards, they say. He was finally stopped and taken into custody.

The driver told officers at the time of his arrest that he was a cop. but it was easy enough to determine he wasn't.

A search of the car also turned up a pistol.  Now, the suspect is in jail and charges are pending.

The arrest comes just days after another man was ticketed for driving 180 miles an hour on I-75 in Monroe County.
