(WWJ) An Oakland County woman was arrested after police say she placed a phony 911 call to try to distract officers who'd pulled over her boyfriend.
The bogus report came in at around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, according to Troy Police.
Police said the caller told the 911 dispatcher that she'd heard two shots fired on the second floor of the Courtyard by Marriott Detroit Troy, on E. Maple Rd.
Officers arrived at the hotel and determined there had been no gunshots, police said.
However, police said officers were able to determine the call came from a passenger of a vehicle that had been stopped by other officers for a traffic violation.

The officers spoke with the passenger, a 30-year-old Madison Heights woman, who allegedly admitted to making the call, and making up the story about the shooting.
According to the police report, the woman told investigators that she was hoping the officers conducting the traffic stop would not arrest her boyfriend, and would instead handle the more serious call.
The woman was taken into custody and charged with Falsely Summoning a Police Officer. Her name was not immediately released.
Police did not say whether the boyfriend was arrested, or what led to the traffic stop.
