(WWJ) Former Detroit Pistons guard Malik Beasley has been indicted for allegedly taking part in a sports betting scheme.
Beasley is among a group of eight people who were hit with federal charges on Monday for their involvement in the scheme — which allegedly included point shaving and prop bets.
Authorities said Beasley tailored his play while with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024, based on bets on his performance, and it benefited the others who are now facing charges.
Beasley's attorney, Steve Haney told ESPN that the government was coordinating Beasley's voluntary surrender this week.
WWJ's Branden Shabath reports the 9-year NBB veteran is the fifth current or former player in the NBA to be indicted on sports betting charges in the last few months.
Beasley spent the 2024-25 season in Detroit, where he finished second in the NBA with 319 made three-pointers.
