DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Lexus Velodrome could be inflated and back in business very soon.
Repairs are expected to begin Monday at the Lexus Velodrome, nearly a month after the dome deflated during a Dec. 13 power outage caused by high winds.
Before the start of 2022, operators of the Mack Avenue indoor cycle-racing venue raised almost $20,000 through the Detroit Fitness Foundation for repairs and are optimistic about reopening by next month.
In December, operators told Crain's Business that the velodrome had minimal water damage, but they lost some TVs and speakers. The only thing left undamaged was the cycling track.

The main cost would be repairing the actual dome, with the remaining going towards addressing the water damage and the destroyed electronics.
At the time, it isn't clear how much the repairs would cost or how much insurance would cover.
While the velodrome is deflated and undergoing repairs, the Downtown Detroit Bike Shop in Midtown has continued with road rides, planned indoor sessions and coaching sessions for the velodrome's junior competitors.
