HIGHLAND TWP. (WWJ) -- A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a weekend crash involving a deer and an SUV in Oakland County, according to authorities.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said Lucas Dreven Nash of Commerce Township was riding his 2010 Yamaha R6 motorcycle southbound on Harvey Lake Rd. near M-59 in Highland Township, shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Just south of Wardlow Rd. investigators say Nash's motorcycle collided with a deer, causing the young man to lose control of the bike.
The motorcycle cross the center line into the northbound lane of traffic and into the path of a 2017 Ford Escape driven by a 25-year-old Holly man.
The sheriff's office said Nash was treated by emergency personnel from the Highland Township Fire Department, but was pronounced dead at the scene. It was noted that he was wearing a helmet.
The Ford driver, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered only minor injuries.
The sheriff's office said that alcohol and drug use are not suspected factors in this crash.
