DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroiters looking for a job should head downtown to the Renaissance Center where service company, Marjorel, is holding a job fair over the weekend -- some people are even being hired on the spot.

V.P of Marjorel, Elaine Coffman, says entry level jobs start at $17/hour with benefits. Those who are hired will begin working at home.

Coffman says they have hopes of hiring 200 workers by the end of April and 500 by the summer for its new downtown office. Job roles include customer service, human resources and operations at levels going all the way up to manager.

And while having work experience is nice, Coffman says it's not necessary for those looking for work. She says Marjorel is looking for people who want to work, learn and have a passion for social media and the internet.

Detroit beat out more than 50 other cities to become the next location for Majorel, a company of nearly 70,000 employees. They are one of the leading providers of end-to-end customer experience solutions for brands around the world.

“I would like to thank Majorel, not only for choosing Detroit, but for ensuring that residents of this city have a chance at filling these good-paying jobs,” Mayor Mike Duggan said. “To have a company that does business in 35 countries choose Detroit speaks volumes about our city’s future and the opportunity that we are creating here for our city’s residents.”

The job fair runs until 4 p.m. Friday, starting back up at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is recommended.

Gus Gikas, vice president of operations for North America at Majorel said, “We selected Detroit due to the positive impact we believe we can make on the community as we bring hundreds of new jobs to residents. We look forward to providing our future staff with extensive training and education as we support them with career development opportunities.”
