ST. CLAIR SHORES — Two men are dead after a single-vehicle crash along I-94 in St. Clair Shores on Saturday night.
Michigan State Police say it happened around 8:30 p.m. on the westbound side of the freeway near 8 Mile Road. MSP says the vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree.
Troopers say witnesses reported the driver was "driving recklessly" just before he lost control. The driver, a 40-year-old man from St. Clair Shores, and his passenger, a 26-year-old from Clinton Township, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
“When you get behind the wheel of a vehicle you are responsible for everyone on the road,” MSP F/Lt. Mike Shaw said in a social media post. “We continue to see the same risky driving behaviors lead to preventable crashes and deaths on Michigan roads. Please slow down, don’t drive distracted or impaired.”
The freeway was closed for four hours for the investigation.
