DETROIT (WWJ) A crash hurt two Michigan State Police troopers in Detroit.
In a statement on Twitter, State Police said several high profile events happening in the city led to troopers getting stuck in traffic. While they were stopped, a 78-year-old man from West Virginia could not brake in time and rear-ended the patrol car around 11:50 p.m. Friday.
The troopers had neck pain and drove themselves to a nearby hospital to be checked out. Doctors released them "a few hours later," State Police said.
They are expected to be okay.
Police issued a citation for the driver and released him. He was not injured.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. According to State Police, everyone had seatbelts on.
