(WWJ) Flames tore through a Mt. Clemens apartment complex over the weekend, leaving several hospitalized.
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said the fire ripped through the entire building of River North Apartments on North River Road in the area of I-94 and Crocker Saturday evening.
Residents had to jump from their balconies into the frigid temperatures in order to escape. The fire continued to smolder into Sunday morning.
They lost everything in the blaze, according to a tweet from the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff said eight are hospitalized, all with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Michigan Red Cross chapter provided hotel rooms for at least 20 residents who lost their home, according to the Detroit News.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
