
(WWJ) – A 911 outage in multiple counties and cities across Michigan on Tuesday appears to have been corrected..
People needing to call 911 for an emergency were asked to dial a different number as the agencies dealt with trouble with their 911 networks.
As of 4:30 p.m., Monroe County, Lapeer County and the Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety were all reporting problems. The outages appeared to be corrected by 6 p.m.
On the other side of the state, Calhoun County, Newaygo County, Ottawa County and the city of Grand Rapids also experienced outages, according to WOOD TV. Several counties in Northern Michigan were also reporting problems.
Authorities have not given any word on what may have caused the issue.
Michigan State Police officials in Metro Detroit said "there are reports of 911 centers having problems across the state. Currently, the Detroit Regional Communication Center is not experiencing any problems. We will keep you updated to any changes."
