(WWJ) – A suspect is in custody after multiple police agencies, including Michigan State Police, made a massive drug bust in Macomb County.
Announcing the news Tuesday, MSP officials said their County of Macomb Enforcement Team executed five search warrants on Aug. 5 in Fraser, Chesterfield Township and Clinton Township, leading to the seizure of drugs, guns, ammo and cash.
Authorities seized crack cocaine and more than 19,000 pills, which included meth that had been pressed to resemble prescription Adderall and Xanax pills.
They also seized two pistols and a semi-automatic rifle with three 30-round magazines. Two cars allegedly used to transport and distribute the drugs were also seized, along with more than $145,000 in cash, allegedly proceeds from drug sales.
While one suspect was arrested, authorities have not released their identity. It was not clear if any other arrests will be made, but officials say the case is pending further investigation.
Police K-9 units from Warren, Roseville and Chesterfield Township assisted COMET during the searches.
"This is another example of police agencies working together to not only get these deadly drugs off our street, but also several illegal guns," said MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw. "If you know of illegal drug activity in Macomb County, give COMET a call on their tip line 586-790-3990."
The investigation was supported by Byrne JAG # 2022-MU-BX-0011, awarded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
