As high winds raged across metro Detroit Thursday afternoon, scattered power outages emerged.
At 17 Mile and Dequindre in Sterling Heights and at 18 Mile and Mound, about 3,400 homes and businesses were without power.
Equipment problems are being cited as the cause.
That's in addition to other pockets of outages across the region that have left a total of 12,000 people without power so far. See the outage map HERE.
Crews were working to get power restored.
The outages come as a high wind advisory engulfs metro Detroit until 8 p.m., with flooding expected and road closures anticipated. Winds are blowing up to 45 mph today.
