BELLEVILLE (WWJ) - A Ypsilanti woman is facing charges after state police said she pointed a gun at another driver while traveling on I-94 and Belleville Road at the beginning of April.
According to Michigan State Police, a female driver called to report an alleged felonious assault that occurred while she was driving along I-94 on April 6. The victim told troopers that she honked her car horn at another driver who had cut her off on the service drive before they both drove onto the freeway.
The suspect vehicle, also a female driver, pulled alongside the victim and pointed a black pistol at her, MPS said.
The victim was able to provide a license plate number of the vehicle she encountered on the freeway and was able to positively identify the suspect, a 29-year-old woman from Ypsilanti, when presented in a photo lineup.
Troopers said they were able to secure a search warrant for the suspect's vehicle on April 28 in an attempt to find the weapon involved in the incident.
Authorities met the suspect at her residence and interviewed her. She told troopers the gun was kept in the glove box of her vehicle. State police were able to locate the weapon in her vehicle and discovered a round in the chamber.
Troopers said the woman did not have a CPL.
An investigator's report has been submitted to the prosecutor's office for review and possible charges are pending.
