
WARREN (WWJ) -- Police say a man who allegedly raped two women in a vacant home in Warren was leading a third potential victim into the house when he was stopped and arrested.
The Warren resident Warren Police are calling "a serial rape suspect" appeared in 37th District Court for an arraignment on 11 felony charges.
According to investigators, during the week of May 19 a female victim a reported that she was raped at gunpoint by a man inside a vacant home on Coleen Ave., which is in the area of 8 Mile and Schoenherr Roads on Warren's south side.
The victim met the male through a personals website, police said.
Just over one week later, police said a second woman reported she was raped and robbed under identical circumstances at the same vacant house on Coleen.
On May 28, Warren Police officers were performing "proactive surveillance" at the home when they saw a man fitting the alleged rapist's description approaching the house with another woman.
The officers immediately intervened and rescued the potential victim, police said.
The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Orlando Lavale Marshall, Jr. of Warren, ran from the scene by was found two days later and arrested at a home in Detroit.
He's been charged by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office with the following:
Counts 1-4: Criminal Sexual Conduct in the 1st Degree (Life Felony)
Count 5: Armed Robbery (Life Felony)
Count 6: Assault less than murder (10-year Felony)
Count 7: Assault with a dangerous/deadly weapon (4-year Felony)
Count 8: Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (5-year Felony)
Count 9: Possession of ammunition by a convicted felon (5-year Felony)
Count 10: Felony firearm (Mandatory 2-year felony)
Count 11: Possession of Cocaine less than 25 grams (4-year Felony)
Bond for Marshall was set at $530,000 cash or surety only.
"The Warren Police Department remains steadfast in our commitment to protecting the public," said Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer, in a media release.
"I commend our officers and Investigators for their proactive efforts that led to this arrest. Violent crime will never be tolerated in this City. Warren Police Officers will continue to aggressively pursue anyone who aims to commit violence in this city."
Dwyer urged anyone else who was assaulted by Marshall to please come forward.
"Unfortunately, we know from our experience that these women are likely not his first or only victims," the added.
