DETROIT (WWJ) - Early afternoon gunfire that erupted on Detroit's east side has left one woman dead.
As reported by FOX 2, Detroit police were dispatched on reports of a woman shot around 1:30 p.m. in the 10600 block of Bonita.
Responding officers located the victim upon arrival, who was in her 50s, and rushed her to a local hospital.
The woman did not survive her injuries and was was pronounced dead.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting remain unclear. No suspect information has been released, although authorities are continuing to investigate.

This is the third shooting reported in the city in 24 hours. On Friday (Sept. 1), two men were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after an incident on the city's east side.
That investigation remains active with the 2nd Precinct detective unit.
