DETROIT (WWJ) -- The southbound lanes of I-75 were closed for hours in Detroit on Friday, following a crash involving a semi truck.
Troopers with the Michigan State Police Second District shut down the southbound freeway Friday morning, crews set to work to clear a jackknifed semi, which was leaking diesel fuel.
Traffic was ramped off at I-96, until crews could clear the scene, with WWJ's KT reporting traffic was backed up before the Lodge Freeway.
Just before 9 a.m., MSP tweeted: "We are making progress with the clean up and as soon as we get a lane cleaned we will start to move the traffic stuck between 96 and the crash scene."
At around 1 p.m., MSP said the freeway was back open, thanking drivers for their patience.
As for what happened, police said further investigation of the crash revealed that the semi driver was driving too fast, lost control and jacknifed.
He was found at fault in the crash, MSP said.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and no injuries were reported.
