(WWJ) The search for a man considered armed and dangerous has ended after turned himself in at the Detroit Police Department

A manhunt for Parrish Demone VanPelt began Wednesday after police discovered the suspect in a double shooting was in fact not barricaded inside a home on Stoepel on Detroit's northwest side.

Detroit Police Chief James White said officers tracked the armed suspect to the Stoepel house following the shooting. A SWAT team surrounded the home, but the gunman was not inside when officers ultimately entered.

According to White there are two gunshot victims in this case, including a 24-year-old man who was killed. The second victim, a 25-year-old woman, was last reported in critical condition at a local hospital.

White said investigators believe he shooting stemmed from a "family dispute" that started with a verbal argument and escalated; ending in what he called "tragic gunfire."

VanPelt, 26, was then identified by police as a suspect, and anyone who spotted him was asked to call 911 immediately.

Police said Friday that VanPelt surrendered to the DPD and was questioned by detectives, before being released pending further investigation.

No charges have been filed.
