TROY, Mich. (WWJ) -- A Saginaw woman is facing charges after police say she assaulted her supervisor at work with an umbrella and destroyed property last week after she was fired.

Troy police say they were called to American MSC at 2401 Elliott Drive shortly after 5 p.m. on June 18 on the report of an irate former employee who had assaulted her supervisor.

Authorities say the 29-year-old woman had been been called into her supervisor's office at the spring company and was fired for "being a poor employee."

The woman, whose name has not been released, became irate, according to police, and attacked her supervisor with an umbrella. She allegedly swung and hit him in the mid-section, before going on to destroy electronics.

Police say the woman submerged an Emachine Computer Monitor, a keyboard and a web monitor in an Igloo Cooler that was full of water.

The woman also knocked a 25-inch Dolby flatscreen TV off its stand, cracking the screen.

When officers arrived on-scene, they found the woman sitting at a picnic table outside the building, and she admitted to assaulting her former supervisor.

The woman was arrested and charged with assault and battery, as well as malicious destruction of property.
