A truck crashed into the People Move near Gratiot and Liberty and then burst into flames, with the man inside getting a rescue from security guards who sprang into action.
"You can see how bad this car is," WWJ's Charlie Langton reported.
The truck was allegedly driving at about 100 mph when it crashed and then erupted in flames. A few security guards jumped into action, grabbing a fire extinguisher and putting out the fire so the driver could escape.
"He was totally burnt," a security guard said. "His leg was on fire."
His condition and what caused him to drive into the People Mover are unknown.
"Tires flew off, lost control, hit the curb, hit the window," one of the life-saving security guards told Langton. The driver is expected to recover from his injuries
So, how did it feel to save the man's life? "It feels good," the guard said.
