CLAM LAKE TWP. (WWJ) -- One person suffered minor injuries, police said, in a head-on crash involving a wrong-way driver that could have been much worse.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post responded shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday to the crash scene on southbound US-131 near Mile Marker 177, in Wexford County's Clam Lake Township.
According to witnesses, the driver of a GMC Terrain entered the freeway from the off ramp at exit 177 and proceeded to drive in the wrong direction — northbound in the left lane of southbound US-131.
The driver of a Dodge Ram that was headed southbound in the left lane tried to move over, but couldn't do it in time to avoid the crash, and the two trucks collided head-on, MSP said.

The driver of the Ram, a 60-year-old man from Boston, New York, and his passenger, a 61-year-old man from Eden, New York, were not injured.
The driver of the Terrain, a 67-year-old Lake City woman, was taken by ambulance to Munson Hospital in Cadillac for treatment of minor injuries.
While it's unclear why the woman got onto the freeway the wrong way, MSP said alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The woman, whose name was not released, was issued a citation for driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
Southbound US-131 was shut down briefly for the on-scene investigation.
