All tornado watches, warnings, lifted

The severe weather has moved off to the east of the New Orleans area, and all tornado warnings have expired. The National Weather Service has also lifted the tornado watch.

"The worst of it is gone," said WWL-TV meteorologist Chris Franklin. "We may still see a few pop-up thunderstorms during the course of the afternoon and early evening, but the worst of that heavy rain and the sever threat is now gone."

Metro New Orleans appeared to have been spared the worst of the weather, but before the line of storms arrived in the Crescent City, it left areas of damage in Baton Rouge and the River Parishes.

A Hammond homeowner ended up in a similar sitaution, with a tree going through the roof and injuring one person inside:

A 20 year old was sitting on this couch at her grandparents home in Hammond when this tree fell through the roof. She is at a hospital but her family believes her injuries are minor. If the tree would have fallen another foot down, this could have been a different story. @WWLTV pic.twitter.com/G1DazKpCHc

In addition to trees being blown into houses, cars were tossed like toys in the parking lot of a Baton Rouge hospital.

And dramatic video captured this tornado crossing the river in St. James Parish:
