A large presence of first responders and emergency crews were on scene at Dutchtown High School after reports of a strong chemical odor.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office says the incident was due to lawn mower fumes going into the air vents of the school. Multiple people reported feeling nauseous and ill.

Over a dozen people have been transported to local hospitals.

Multiple operations responded to the situation.

Additional ambulances were being sent and the Louisiana Emergency Response Network was also working with local hospitals in assisting with routing patients.
