Finally, the Stones do New Orleans

The Rolling Stones finally got to perform in New Orleans last night, after a two month delay since the canceled Jazz Fest appearance and a 24-hour postponement due to Barry.

Mick Jagger told the crowd, "We've been on a bit of a journey to get here tonight."

Advocate music writer Keith Spera loved the show and praised how they play together.

"They are still a band they still are playing off one another up on stage," Spera said.

He says Mick Jagger never missed a beat full of energy, and even got a line in about the infamous NFC Championship Game no-call, which had the crowd roaring.

Spera also noted that there are no recorded back up singers or music.

"That's the word that it is all organic, including the flugel horn at the beginning of 'You Can't Always Get What You Want,'" said Spera.

Spera thought they put on a heck of a show. He included special praise of the drummer, 78-year-old Charlie Watts, for holding the whole thing together.
