Success with New Orleans crime fighting has attracted attention to police chief Michael Harrison, and now Baltimore wants him to do for them what he's done for the NOPD.
Chervenak says Harrison had good approval numbers from the public, something else Baltimore's beleaguered police department desires.
"Most people felt that he was doing a good job," Chervenak said. ""Probably indicative of his success here in New Orleans, they're probably looking from someone who can employ some of the same tactics and strategies that he did here to help reduce that crime rate."
Baltimore's police department has been reeling since the death of Freddie Gray in police custody in 2015, and is under a federal consent decree similar to the one in New Orleans that's been in place since 2013.
