A nurse at a VA clinic in Alexandria has plead guilty to stealing needed vials of morphine and hydromorphone from a clinic.
WWL-TV reports 40-year-old Jolie King entered the plea on Thursday in federal court to the theft of at 33 vials of the drugs over a 13-month period.
King admitted she would randomly chose a patient in need of a refill of their pain medication vial and fill the prescription, then replace the drug with saline solution and replace the vials in the narcotics supply cabinet to avoid detection.
The judge in the case, Dee D. Drell, did not immediately sentence King. But she could be sentenced to serve upwards of four years in prison and be fined a quarter million dollars.
