Staying in Phase Two: What say you?

Governor John Bel Edwards has extended Phase 2 coronavirus restrictions for two more weeks until September 11th.  So what do people think about staying another two weeks under mask mandates and closed bars?

“Things could be played differently and different precautions could be taken.”

This woman says Phase Two is flawed, unfair to small business, and favoring big business too much:

“It’s inconsistent, some businesses are really getting hurt when the necessary precautions aren’t being taken straight across the board and other businesses—big box businesses—are getting quite a boost in business and everybody else is getting hurt.”

She says she understands the need for measures, but we're putting too much at risk economically to stay in Phase Two.

You might think men want the economy reopened more than women, but this guy was glad we were staying in Phase Two:

“I’m totally fine with sticking with Phase Two.  Quite frankly, I don’t know what Phase Three means.  I would imagine it would entail permitting more people to go to restaurants.  Yeah I understand that hurts, but I feel public safety is more important.”

This woman hopes this is the last round for Phase Two.

I’m thinking that after a couple more weeks, and we see the effects of kids going back to college and schools opening, [Governor Edwards] will feel more comfortable [about moving to Phase Three].”

Though Coronavirus case counts, and hospitalization numbers are heading in the right direction, the Governor says more work on holding down COVID infections needs to be done.
