New Orleans Police say they are investigating a shooting this afternoon on Bourbon Street, between Iberville and Bienville streets.
According to police, a man went into Mango Mango Daiquiris at 201 Bourbon Street, and got into an argument of some sort with the employees.
"The individual then retrieved a weapon, firing it one time, striking an employee in the abdomen," said New Orleans Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson. "The individual then fled the scene, making good his escape."
Chief Ferguson said the woman is in stable condition at the hospital and her injuries are not considered life-threatening at this time.
Ferguson said they don't believe the dispute was domestic in nature, but they aren't sure why the gunman went in to the daiguiri shop in the first place.
It's the same area where a state trooper shot a wrong-way driver early yesterday evening.
New Orleans Police say that as of today, they have made 127 gun arrests in the 8th district, which includes the French Quarter. For all of 2018, there were 207 arrests related to illegal guns in the district. Police say identifying people illegally carrying firearms remains one of their top priorities.
