The NFL’s “Jackrabbit”, Janoris Jenkins, joined the Saints late last year after getting waived by the N.Y. Giants. He was drafted by the Rams in the 2 round of the 2012 draft and has been the “Prince of Pick-6’s” returning 7 of his career 23 interceptions for touchdowns. Could he be the key to the Fleur-Di-Lis D the way Darren Sharper was in 2009?
“I felt at home. I love everything about the organization,” Jenkins told the NFL Network. “How they carry themselves. How they treats their players. It’s just a winning atmosphere. Around there, everyone seems to be on the same page at all times and I just love it.”
Pairing Jenkins' swagger up with #1 CB Marshon Lattimore for a full-season ahead should help an already ascending Saints defense get to new heights. The ability to create turnovers is a game-changer. Last year’s Saints tallied 23 takeaways (13 INTs, 10 fumbles recovered) which was tied for 10th best in the league.
Much of the offseason talk surrounding the NFC South though has not been about the Saints going for a four-peat as division champs. It’s mostly been about the boys from New England, Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, migrating to Tampa Bay. That doesn’t faze Jenkins who has one interception in the two games he’s faced Brady already.
