The New Orleans Saints have reportedly had conversations about trading defensive tackle Malcom Brown, according to a report from the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Brown is set to enter the final season of his three-year $15 million contract and according to Rapoport trading or releasing Brown would save the Saints roughly $5 million in cap space.
Brown has been a key part of the Saints defensive line rotation since joining the team in 2019. He’s started all 29 games he’s played for the Saints and totaled 61 tackles including nine for a loss to go along with three sacks.
Moving Brown could bring even more change to the Saints defensive front, one of the NFL’s best the past few seasons. New Orleans 2020 leader in sacks Trey Hendrickson is set to become a free agent along with former first-round pick, defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins.
