Slidell police announce that over the past three months, the Slidell Police Narcotics Division made over eighty 80 arrests during a proactive narcotics investigation called “Operation Clean Sweep."
Of the 80 drug arrests, investigators say they have identified 12 people as high-level drug dealers.
“In an effort to combat the rise in narcotics overdose and other crimes that are often associated with drug trafficking and drug abuse, the Slidell Police Department Narcotics Division has been conducting aggressive proactive patrols and addressing known drug trafficking areas throughout the city. The primary objective of Operation Clean Sweep is to target drug dealers, who are dealing: Heroin, Methamphetamine, and Fentanyl,” says a Slidell Police Department report.
Detectives say they were able to gather intelligence, identify, and apprehend numerous individuals who were allegedly involved in illegal drug activity in Slidell.
“We will continue to do everything we can to remove this poison from our community. Overdoses have been on the rise, and Fentanyl is killing people every day. Our message to the dealers is clear…Don’t bring this to our community,” said Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal.
Operation Clean Sweep is still ongoing and the following alleged drug dealers are charged with various narcotics-related charges says the sheriff.
