Jefferson Parish authorities say a child's death on the Westbank may be a homicide.
The sheriff's office says deputies were called to an apartment in the 2100 block of Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey shortly around 7:40 Monday morning. A woman reported her three-year-old son was dead.
Deputies arrived and found the dead child, and the mother, who was suffering from cuts in multiple parts of her body. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Sheriff Joe Lopinto says based on the early evidence, the child's death will be classified as a homicide.
