75-year-old woman among Sunday carjacking victims in New Orleans

New Orleans Police say carjackers pulled a 75-year-old woman out of her car on Magazine Street Sunday.

"The victim was entering her vehicle when she was approached by one of the suspects who pointed a gun and demanded her vehicle."


The initial police report shows the elderly victim tried to fight off her attackers.

"While she tussled with him, suspect #2 approached the passenger side and pulled the victim from her vehicle. The suspects fled in the vehicle in an unknown direction."

The NOPD Major Offense Log only lists the suspects as "two unknown black males."

It happened just after 2:30pm at the Breaux Mart in the 3200 Block of Magazine Street.

Also Sunday, a 60-year old man was held at gunpoint on S. Tonti Street, and robbers took his car.

"Two unknown black male with guns, demanded his keys. The victim complied, and the subjects fled."

That was just before noon in the 2700 Block of S. Tonti Street.

Sunday night an 18-year-old woman was the victim of a carjacking on Crowder Blvd.

"The victim was approached by two armed suspects that threatened the victim and demanded her vehicle. The victim complied and the suspects fled the location in the victim's vehicle in an unknown direction."

That was just after 10:00pm in the 5700 Block of Crowder Blvd.

Early Monday morning a 39-year-old man was carjacked on S. Johnson Street.

"The victim was approached by multiple armed suspects that threatened the victim and demanded their keys & vehicle. The victim complied & the suspects fled in the victim's vehicle in an unknown direction."

That was at 2:30am in the 3700 Block S. Johnson Street.
